As a result of successfully completing my 4th decade on this rock, my lovely wife decided to take me on a 2 day trip to visit friends and go see cool stuff. While visiting friends in Pennsylvania, we decided to stop by the Smithsonian affiliated Antique Automobile Club of America Museum.
It was a neat place to spend a few hours. The folks there were friendly and informative. We ended up spending a bit longer there than we would have normally, because the bottom floor was being used to host a John Kasich rally, so we killed a little time for them to wrap up so we could see the goodies down there as well. They had cars from the 1880s through the 1980s as well as motorcycles, scooters and all manor of motorized goodies. They also had a very nice Tucker exhibit, and a pinstripe art and photography exhibit from local artist “Hot Rod” Jen Skidmore that was pretty cool.

And now for the pictures. I took pics of many of the accompanying information signs, so if there is something you have a question about, I may be able to elaborate a bit. Also, all pictures were taken with a potato. A nice new Samsung potato, but they’re still phone quality. Sorry

This is the oldest running car in the US. It was purpose built as a racecar, because of course it was.
My father had a Chevette for a short while. No fond memories of that thing...
This monstrosity is actually a Harley-Davidson Trihawk. Yes, they actually produced these.
The museum is currently raising funds to restore this beast of a wagon.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this Honda CB125 on display, as I’m currently looking for one. I’ve never even ridden on a motorcycle before, but I do spend a lot of time lurking in the motorcycle section of Craigslist, as that’s where the mopeds are. I recently saw one for sale and began thinking about how great it would be to have a small displacement commuter bike that I could ride to work. Really, it’s just an excuse for yet another project, but I could probably at least sell the practicality of it to my wife.
Or, I could pick up one of these and bring my wife with me! Who am I kidding, the dog would be more likely to go for a ride than my wife...
The museum also has an extensive collection of hood ornaments. These were some of the best/most interesting.
And finally, some of the pinstripe art.

Thanks for posting these wonderful images and for your great comments on the AACA Museum. We’re always changing our exhibits so we hope you’ll be able to visit again soon. Summer exhibits will include Early Off-Roaders celebrating 75 years of Jeep and 50 years of the Ford Bronco among others long with a Steampunk art display.
November we’ll usher in Amore della Strada: Italian cars along with Cars and Christmas starting November 18th.
